Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Confers with customers by telephone, e-mail, or in person to provide information about products or services, book and enter loads, and obtain details of complaints.
- Quotes and negotiates freight rates with customers.
- Communicates quoted rates and work orders to dispatchers, drivers, and other relevant employees.
- Plans movement of deck freight within Canada and the United States.
- Monitors driver and equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules and minimize empty miles.
- Maintain constant communication with customers, drivers, management and fellow employees to ensure complaints and conflicts are identified and resolved.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of freight markets and pricing.
- Checks to ensure that appropriate changes were made to resolve customers’ problems.
- Updates and modifies shared load schedule spreadsheet.
- Nurtures customer relationships by resolving issues or complaints and provide great customer service.
- Consults customers regarding the customs and border crossing processes and the most efficient ways of constructing or loading freight
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, with relevant post-secondary education preferred.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of industrial sales experience required, with experience in the transportation industry preferred.
- Strong knowledge of freight and transportation markets is required.
- Must be moderately technologically inclined, with the ability to utilize various transportation programs (i.e. AXON, Shaw Tracking, LSD finder, etc.).
- Strong negotiation and communication skills are required.
- Must be able to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Strong customer service skills required.
- Effective time management skills required.
- Excellent oral and written comprehension skills required.
- Strong collaboration skills with various cross-functional Q-Line staff is required.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Strong problem-solving skills required.
