AHS seeks an experienced, results-oriented nurse educator to join our team. As the Educator Coordinator for the perianesthesia and perioperative programs, you will advance the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of province-wide education programming, educating newly hired RNs and LPNs. You will report to the Director of Clinical Education Transition, within Health Professions Strategy and Practice (HPSP), and can be located anywhere in Alberta. You will support best practices in perioperative and perianesthesia education and the provincial delivery of the perioperative and perianesthesia pilot education programs in close collaboration with our external partners. You will coordinate a standardized approach for education that results in quality outcomes for safe patient care; work closely with site-based/provincial educators and managers across the province and be responsible for leveraging available educational opportunities and efficiencies; create and refine learning resources in collaboration with our external partners; oversee comprehensive measures of educational effectiveness, advance improvements in standardization; provide change management and communicate with key stakeholders.

Description:

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

RN. Canadian Nursing Association (CNA) Certification in Perioperative. Master of Nursing or Education or equivalent. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Perioperative Instructor or Clinical Nurse Educator role. Minimum of (3) years' experience working in the PACU environment. Wide scope of experience in clinical education including education development, delivery, and coordination, as well as the mentorship of learners and other educators. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. Preferred Qualifications:

Clinical Nurse Specialist experience. Strong knowledge of technology enabled education development and implementation. Practical experience of education program implementation in a health authority. Change management experience or expertise. Perioperative Certificate from an Alberta post-secondary institution. Operating Room Nurses Association of Alberta Canada (ORNAA/ORNAC) membership. The National Association of Perianesthesia Nurses of Canada (NAPANc) is preferred.
