Tundra is seeking an Instrumentation Technicianto be based out of our Estevan, SK office.

The successful incumbent will be responsible to perform instrumentation related tasks safely and efficiently with continuous improvement in mind. Reporting to the Instrumentation Coordinator the principal duties, and responsibilities of an Instrumentation Technician are:

  • Monitoring, benchmarking and evaluating technology and field instruments in order to ensure proper operation, continuous improvements and reliability.
  • Coordinating and effecting the monitoring, installation, service, and reconditioning of a variety of equipment, instruments and control systems.
  • Performing repairs, installations and any work required to set up, align or otherwise prepare for operation.
  • Performing operational checks, monitoring performance, troubleshoot and related maintenance to identify and diagnose process and equipment issues.
  • Optimizing performance of equipment by monitoring the effectiveness and making corrective recommendations regarding instrumentation and electronic performance problems
  • Coordinate and oversee field activities/installations being performed by other contractors.
  • Participate in upgrades of existing facilities (e.g. injection/disposal well conversions, battery improvements, etc.).
  • Other related duties as required.

Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

  • Instrumentation Technician Trade Certificate or Diploma is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • Oil and Gas experience an is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge in the following areas:
    • Instrument/electrical maintenance and repair.
    • PLC’s and HMI’s with ability to read programming code.
    • VFD’s and related control wiring schemes.
    • Communication protocols and related wiring, TCP/IP, ControlNet, Modbus, CANBus.
    • Industrial Radio communications systems, namely in the 900Mhz and 5.2Ghz range.
  • Accountability for accuracy and high quality of work performed.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Strong team player.
  • Safety conscious.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Some exposure to inclement weather
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary and be subject to call-outs, including response to emergency situations or after hour breakdowns/repairs.
  • Ensure safe work practices are being followed.
  • Adhere to the safety accountabilities as per Tundra’s Safety Policy
