Summary
The IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Specialist will lead the Integrated Pest Management Program, overseeing the cultivation environment and ensuring the health of cannabis plants, including pest monitoring and pesticide application. As a vital part of the Cultivation team, the IPM Specialist will maintain quality standards, care for cannabis plants at differing stages, and contribute to the overall success of the Cultivation department.
Responsibilities
- Lead IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Program
- Proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) including respiratory protection
- Daily monitoring and scouting for pests and disease
- Maintaining up-to-date pesticide and preventative agent logs
- Proper mixing of pesticides/preventative agents/caustic cleaning agents
- Operation and maintenance of Dramm hydraulic sprayers
- Application of IPM products and beneficial insects to plants
- Coordination and scheduling of applications with Head of Cultivation
- Adherence to standard operating procedures for assigned tasks and projects
- Uphold quality standards; conduct and document follow-up inspections
- Care for clones, vegetative, and blooming cannabis plants
- Complete pruning sessions, defoliations, and toppings of plants as different stages
- Harvest flower according to schedules
- Ensure clean and sanitary conditions of grow rooms, equipment and processing rooms
- Accurate completion of paperwork for Quality Assurance uses
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in plant science, horticulture, agriculture, or related field
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods
- Possession of a Pesticide Applicator license
- Able to work in a hot, humid environment under grow lights
- Supervisory experience preferred
Skills
- Strong time-management skills and the ability to self-start
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Proficiency in Excel and strong math skills
