Job description

Adecco is currently recruiting for an Integrated Work Control SME. This is a 12-month contract fully on-site opportunity with our client based out of Port Hope, ON. The successful candidate must hold a valid Reliability Security Clearance or be eligible for one. The schedule will be Monday to Friday within core business hours.

  • The ideal contractor is required to work on site at project facilities and project sites located in Port Hope and Clarington, ON.

  • The candidate is allowed one trip home a month to the contractor’s place of residence as authorized in accordance with organization guidelines.

  • While at home, the IWC SME can work remotely for a period of up to one week.

  • Candidate is required fulfill the needs of the organization with an approximate average of 40 hours per week.

  • The IWC SME is expected to be in the field during daily activities approximately 50% of the time observing, mentoring, and coaching but not performing any actual physical work unless prior arrangements are made with the project office.

The Integrated Work Control SME have the following duties and responsibilities.

  • Oversight of remediation and restoration activities at the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI)

  • Responsible for IWC, including preparation, review, and commenting on IWC packages, conduct of operations, health and safety, and contractor management.

  • Responsible for personnel coaching and mentoring will be required based upon observations.

  • IWC SME will focus on the specific areas of IWC support, feedback in other areas is expected.

  • The IWC SME is considered a key position within this current project.

  • The IWC SME will assist contractor and planners with the assembly of work packages that will identify and mitigate known hazards, review appropriate permits, materials, and provide adequate work instructions for personnel to perform work in a safe and effective manner.

  • Review task instruction for work associated with corrective maintenance, modifications,

  • fabrications, and select operational activities providing comment to the contractor and/or staff.

  • Review and comment on work packages in accordance with Contractor Integrated Work

  • Control (IWC) for the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) Procedure and the organization’s Integrated Work Control (IWC) Standard.

  • Review of IWCs in the field for compliance, and complete focused oversight assessments and oversight reports.

  • Other IWC-related, planning-related, safety-related tasks or duties

  • The candidate will potentially lead staff as determined.

The Integrated Work Control SME must meet the following mandatory requirements.

  • 5-10 years of work experience in IWC within nuclear and/or construction is required.

  • Must have a strong knowledge of safety within nuclear and/or construction industries is also required.

  • 5 years experience in writing/editing technical documents.

  • Have US Department of Energy IWC experience is preferred but not required.
