The Opportunity: The Intensive Youth Social Worker understands the realities that youth face in their daily lives and is motivated to use role-modeling, coaching and facilitation skills that build meaningful relationships that engage youth and enable strong connections to be established in the young person’s life. The Intensive Youth Social Worker works one-on-one with youth who need advocacy in the various social & political systems they encounter, including, but not limited to, the child welfare system, criminal justice system, and education systems. The Intensive Youth Social Worker will work within a multi-disciplinary care team, and utilize a trauma-informed and strength-based approach to practice. The main responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide weekly face to face contact with youth;
- Provides one-on-one, strength-based holistic and culturally relevant services to children and youth on assigned caseload.
- Conducts a needs-based assessment with the guardian and care team.
- Supports cultural planning and learning and facilitates healthy relations and contact with family and community.
What You Will Bring to The Role:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology or Education
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a social service setting
- Experience working in a leadership capacity with youth-at-risk
- Occupational First Aid Level 1
