We are looking for an Intermediate Project Manager to help us expand our presence across the Capital Projects Industry, who will help drive internal project performance, and support to our customers. We seek a professional who will align with our corporate mission, vision & values:

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill the Health and Safety responsibilities as identified in the Responsibility and Accountability section of the Health and Safety Program
  • Fulfill the Environmental responsibilities as identified in the Responsibility & Accountability section of the Environment & Energy Program
  • Fulfill the responsibilities as identified in the Performance Management Process
  • Fulfill the responsibilities as identified in the Attendance Management Process
  • Provide training to co-workers and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures, Best Practices and Job Safe Practices to ensure the transfer of knowledge to others
  • Lead capital and major maintenance project file development applying the framework., and leading benchmark activity to support investment files with appropriate context
  • Lead global benchmarking activities for technology, capital assets, project implementation performance and start up performance
  • Lead Project Implementation Strategies development to deal with the circumstances of the investment, (timing, technology, extent of shutdown integration, resources available, etc.) and aligned with project procurement strategies
  • Lead the project engineering and design follows process, articulating business case and corresponding Industrial Objectives and applying Minimum Functional Solution, Minimum Technical Solution, Total Cost of Ownership, and Design for Startup with appropriate, timely inputs from Operations, Maintenance, H&S and other related stakeholders
  • Lead project implementation on site, including project specific H&S programs for project construction with the expectation of zero accidents
  • Lead project specific check out and commissioning planning and implementation with Operations and Maintenance, in support of rapid, sustainable, safe start-ups
  • Represent the project as subject matter expert within the global, and external project management industry conferences, forums, etc.
  • Qualifications / Requirements:
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Applied Science * Advanced courses in Project Management
  • Professional certifications may be considered an asset, e.g., PMP, Six Sigma, PEO
  • 5-10 years of project management experience in a variety of project types, including brownfield, new technology, and major maintenance with shutdown dependencies is required
  • Must have Steam generation, coke, and power experience
  • Project management experience outside of the project industry may be considered an asset
  • Expert knowledge of engineering, construction, and commissioning approaches with corresponding contracting strategies, for emergencies, fast track, and conventional track situations
  • Work assignments in other areas may be considered an asset, including Manufacturing, Technology, and /or Purchasing
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Advanced knowledge of business processes for capital approval, project accounting and procurement, operations, and maintenance
  • Expert ability to develop and lead both technical professionals and non-professionals, including supply chain personnel, to meet project objectives
  • Expert ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with senior management and employees, successfully influencing without authority
  • Expert ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with supply chain organization leadership and project teams for engineering services, equipment supplies, construction contractors and commissioning services
  • Expert ability to delegate effectively and achieve results through others
  • Expert ability to successfully deal with multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
