The Role:

MDA is a leader in the provision of earth observation systems and services, catering to both the Canadian and international markets. MDA is currently a seeking one full-time staff member to join the team operating a satellite ground station near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.  The successful applicant would be required to monitor ground station operations and provide first line maintenance support in a 24/7 operation.

MDA is seeking qualified personnel with skills in the following categories:

Job Responsibilities/tasks:

  • Ensure scheduling and tasking of reception activities to assure system readiness for reception
  • Monitor Data Reception activities from scheduling and reception to final data transfer to archive
  • Tasking and monitor TT&C activities & reporting
  • Detect and report any operational and technical problems
  • Apply troubleshooting procedures
  • Assist in maintaining accurate logs of system activities and reports
  • Support the Senior Technician in system and equipment maintenance, Level 1 preventative maintenance and repairs, and maintenance logs
  • Shift work will be required
  • Available on call 24/7

 Job Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience required in this domain
  • Good Computer and networking skills with an interested in satellite Data Reception.
  • Experience in system hardware/software preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Must be able to work at height on tower systems approximately 60 feet.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Comments/Special Considerations:

  • Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
  • Candidate must hold or be cleared to Reliability Security Clearance prior to commencing work.
