Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with Lydon Lynch Architects to recruit an Intern Architect to join their team in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Founded in 1979, Lydon Lynch has built a reputation for design excellence as the "go-to" studio for many of Atlantic Canada's most recognized buildings. Their expertise has enabled them to succeed in acting as the Architects for the region's most advanced buildings and environments as their portfolio includes multi-residential, institutional, educational, commercial, cultural, and recreational buildings for some of Canada's most respected clients. They have worked on award winning projects such as The Halifax Seaport Market, Dalhousie University Arts Centre, TD Tower Redevelopment, and The Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre. With many more projects to come, they're excited to continue to add to Halifax's unique architecture.

Role Description:
As an Intern Architect, you'll work with a talented and dedicated team of professionals to contribute to a wide range of architectural projects in all phases of project development from concept to completion. In this role you will prepare design and construction documentation while identifying and solving technical problems that may include planning solutions, sustainability strategies, code solutions, and/or building envelope detailing. You'll work on a variety of projects with the guidance and mentorship of a supportive leadership team.

By joining the Lydon Lynch team, you will be part of a caring and collaborative organization with a reputation for quality of their work above all else. You will be supported and mentored in your professional development, allowing you to grow your passions while contributing to the project's success. This is an opportunity to work on exciting and creative projects that stand out amongst the noise and in return for the skillset and expertise you bring you will be rewarded with a competitive compensation and benefits package.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare preliminary design studies and adaptations of alternatives for review;
  • Prepare drawings for schematic design and design development;
  • Exercise creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials, including design sketches, renderings, models and graphics;
  • Ensure studio and project goals of excellence in design, execution, and sustainability are maintained;
  • Assist in the preparing of contract documents including details, sections, elevations and schedules;
  • Perform site analysis, including survey of existing conditions and field measurements.

Your Qualifications:
This opportunity might be the right fit if you get excited at the idea of changing how people experience their built environment because you believe that great buildings require both high-quality design and high-quality technical documents. You are ambitious, passionate, and are excited about the opportunity to learn and further develop your skillset. You take pride in what you create, and your strong work ethic allows you to manage multiple priorities at once.

Your qualifications include:

  • Recognized degree in Architecture, as well as being registered, or the ability to become registered, as an intern Architect with the NSAA;
  • 2+ years' experience in an architectural office environment as a graduate student and/or Intern Architect, or equivalent experience;
