Applied Industrial Technologies is currently seeking and has an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Summer Intern – Technical Sales Trainee at our Winnipeg, MB locations. The selected candidate will be part of our Applied Scholarship Program.

MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM:
We are seeking dedicated students who are interested in building a lasting relationship with us by returning year over year for Summer terms with the ultimate goal of employment after graduation. As part Applied’s Scholarship Program, at the end of each successful term the selected student will receive a scholarship award for their hard work. Upon returning each year and successfully completing a subsequent term, that award will increase in value!
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The overall purpose of the role Technical Sales Trainee is to develop working knowledge of Applied’s Technical Service offering, an understand the customer base, industry challenges, and how we can best support. They will play an integral role in helping our customers Achieve Superior Performance!
Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for:
-Develop sound understanding of Applied’s processes, product offerings, clients, and markets
-Participate in job shadowing warehouse, Inside Sales, Technical sales, etc to get a full grasp of the business
-Supporting Technical Sales team on sales projects such as calling vendors, identifying prospects, developing reports, and analyzing lost opportunities
-Participation in sales training initiatives
-Cold calling and execution of basic sales
-Other tasks as required
 DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:
-Currently enrolled in post-secondary, ideally with 2 or more years remaining
-Driven and highly determined
-Excellent communication and active-listening skills
-Self-starter who takes initiative
-Collaborative with a team-first mentality
-Open-minded, eager to learn, and develop skills
-Intermediate Microsoft Office skills; experience using Excel Pivot Tables would be a huge asset
