Duties

The incumbent works as part of the visitor experience team. They welcome visitors, provide directions and lead activities and guided tours. In addition, they help plan and create interpretive programs to offer visitors opportunities to discover and appreciate national historic sites, enjoy their natural and cultural resources, and understand their importance to Canada. Interpretation programs include guided tours, school activities, costumed activities, virtual presentations, familiarization tours and more. In addition to providing services to visitors, the individual has supervisory responsibilities: they are involved in hiring students as well as training and supervising guides and students, and they oversee occupational health and safety and team cohesion.

Work environment

The Mauricie region and Western Quebec field unit is responsible for the operation and maintenance of national historic sites located in the regions of Outaouais, Montréal, Montérégie, Lanaudière, Eastern Townships, Mauricie and Témiscamingue thus that of la Mauricie national park.

Intent of the process

The process aims to fill a position in Coteau-du-Lac and create a pool of qualfied candidates for future offers of various durations.

* Education *
  • A minimum of 2 years post-secondary education or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position.

Degree equivalency

* Experience *
  • Experience in providing services to the public, such as events and interpretation, education, communication, or training activities for a variety of audiences.
  • Leadership experience, whether supervising employees or through other means.

* Experience considered as assets *
  • Experience working in the tourism, cultural or history fields.
  • Experience supervising operations in an organization (Ex. tourism attraction, summer camp, business, etc.).
  • Experience in performing tasks within a work deadline.

  • Handle historic weapons and other items used for interpretation.
