Reports to: Administrator
The Interpretive Guide's primary task will be to provide excellent customer service ensuring visitor satisfaction during the height of tourism season, the organization's busiest time of year.
They will maintain operations and key functions of the Colchester Historeum's Museum and Gift Shop.
· Operation of the EPOS cash system, collecting fees for admission, gift shop purchases, or services rendered.
· Provide a warm welcome for visitors to the Historeum.
· Complete morning and evening reconciliation of cash and the opening and closing of the Historeum.
· Assist in daily operations of the Museum and Giftshop.
· Collaborate with all staff and volunteers.
The Interpretive Guide will facilitate positive experiences with visitors by offering engaging and interactive tours for the main exhibit Colchester: Life in the Heart of Nova Scotia.
· Create an engaging description of the Gallery displays using information included with each display in the gallery.
They may, at times assist the Events Coordinator to set up for events or to complete tasks assigned by the Administrator and special projects assigned by the Archives.
· Assist with tasks pertaining to community outreach, social media, programming, and
events.
· Assist the Archivist Researcher with projects regarding artifact collection, such as
database entry and research when time permits.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite)
Assets:
- Knowledge of Colchester County history
- Ability to read and transcribe cursive writing
$15.50/ 35 hours a week
Period of Employment: 14 weeks
Start Date: May 27/24 - End Date: August 26/24
Monday - Friday
8-hour shift (1hr unpaid lunch)
Evening shift (if required)
