Overview of Position:

We are looking for a full-time Foreman/Lead Hand Journeyman Ironworker with a high level of experience in the Commercial Construction industry. Our company has two main focuses: one is the installation of fabric tension buildings and prefabricated steel buildings, the second is prefabricated Bison building installation.

The Journeyman Ironworker Foreman/Lead Hand provides leadership and is responsible for, although not limited to scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting in cost control and ensuring the safety, proper apprentice training and productivity of crews at the worksite who install/assemble components of industrial products and structures. As a key participant in the relationship with the contractor, other contractors, company and clients. The general foreman is, the field level management and has a further role as a field coordinator and client interface. Employees are expected to support and participate in a “culture of safety,” and promote Cobra Construction’s core values, and to treat others with dignity, respect, and fairness. Travel is a requirement for the job, hours may include shifts of 10-12 hours a day with rotating shifts of up to 21 days and 7 to 10 days off

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to worksites and oversee project installations
  • Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews in safety/incident investigations and review and provide crews with adequate supervision to accomplish tasks in a safe effective manner.
  • Knowing, understanding, communicating, and ensuring compliance with the safety regulations (Occupational Health and Safety Regulation and Code) and safety policies and procedures·
  • Identify needs and deficiencies in the plan/schedule and communicate this to the appropriate people.
  • Ensure quality and inspection of work applying project procedures and work site policies
  • Complete quality reports and required statistics.
  • Communicate issues, out-of-scope work, crew production, work progress, and changes to Project Manager.
  • Ensure all workers receive the proper training, support job training for apprentices, and facilitate mentoring.
  • Complete quality control reports when required.
  • Identifying, verifying, and reporting any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate persons, review and approve worker timecards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ Years of Construction Industry Experience.
  • 10 years’ experience as a qualified and competent trades person.
  • 3 years as a qualified and competent foreman with construction experience.
  • H2S Alive and CSTS 0.9 certificates are required. Training in Standard First Aid, Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Ground Disturbance and Fall Protection is an asset.
  • Valid class 5 drivers' licence, with clean driving abstract.
  • Heavy equipment and training considered to be an asset.

Other Qualifications:

  • Experience with MS Office Suite (must be able utilize a computer/tablet and other technology applicable to the job)
  • Project construction scope and objectives
  • Capable of setting and managing priorities to meet all deadlines
  • Strong coordination skills and organization skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment 12 panel drug and alcohol test

Work conditions:

Travel to and from worksites, ability to lift 75+ lbs, ability to carry 50+ lbs, walking, standing, working heights, working outdoors, required safety equipment, hazards associated with the trade, construction sites, noise, irregular hours, drug, and alcohol testing.
