Salary Range
$78,729.94 - $ 89,687.19 annually which includes a 6.6% Temporary Market Adjustment*, plus $36.53 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers; $53.13 bi-weekly Isolation allowance for Fort Nelson.

Natural Resource Information & Digital Services (NRIDS) is the information management/information technology (IM/IT) service provider and organizational partner to the Natural Resource Ministries (NRM). As the centralized authority for all information, geospatial data, and technology across the NRM, NRIDS is leading the transformation and modernization of business practices through new and innovative technology solutions, continuous improvement projects and operational IM/IT solutions.
NRIDS provides broad information management services and leadership in data custodianship by way of the creation, maintenance and publication of foundational datasets and geospatial information. NRIDS is also responsible for the full range of services to maintain and support all existing IT systems for the NRM as well as the development of new applications to deliver on government objectives. NRIDS is committed to client engagement and understanding the business needs of the NRM to identify where expert knowledge, technology and data/information solutions will help the sector deliver their programs and services more effectively.
Natural Resource Information & Digital Services (NRIDS) is leading the modernization and transformation of business practices for the NRM through continuous improvement projects, new technology options and operational information management/information technology (IM/IT). NRIDS is providing leadership for IM/IT planning, policy and business process solutions and is also the single authority for all information and technology across the NRM.
The Database analyst provides general database administration support for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of the Natural Resource Sector's corporate databases.
Job Requirements:
To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following:

Education:
  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related degree, PLUS two (2) years of related work experience; OR
  • Technical Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related degree, PLUS three (3) years of related work experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Related Work experience MUST include:
  • Experience with Database Administration.
  • Experience with Postgres and/or Oracle Database Administration.

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Experience in Deploying, administering, and managing SaaS and PaaS Technology.
  • Experience in container orchestrator (OpenShift), docker platform, configuration management platform (Ansible), CIT tools (Jenkins).
  • Experience with release management, supporting the implementation of projects using the AGILE/DevOps frameworks; using Confluence and JIRA.
  • Experience with administration of high availability solutions with PostgreSQL and/or ORACLE database.
  • Experience with Spatial DBMS, such as ESRI SDE, Oracle Locator, Oracle Spatial or PostGIS.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week as per the Telework Agreement.

Some of the locations available are Victoria, Prince George, Kamloops, Vancouver, Nanaimo, Surrey, Kelowna, Chilliwack, Campbell River, Fort Nelson, Nelson, Smithers and Williams Lake.
