$88,636.83 - $101,099.95 annually which includes a 9.9% Temporary Market Adjustment*, plus $53.13 bi-weekly Isolation allowance for Fort Nelson; $36.53 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers.

Natural Resource Information & Digital Services (NRIDS)is the information management/information technology (IM/IT) service provider and organizational partner to the Natural Resource Ministries (NRM). As the centralized authority for all information, geospatialdata, and technology across the NRM, NRIDS is leading the transformation and modernization of business practices through new and innovative technology solutions, continuous improvement projects and operational IM/IT solutions.
NRIDS provides broad information management services and leadership in data custodianship by way of the creation, maintenanceand publication of foundational datasets and geospatial information. NRIDS is also responsible for the full range of services to maintain and support all existing IT systems for the NRM as well as the development of new applications to deliver government objectives. NRIDS is committed to client engagement and understanding the business needs of the NRM to identify where expert knowledge, technology and data/information solutions will help the sector deliver their programs and services more effectively.
The Senior Data Architect provides expert data design, datamodeling, and data quality services to the sector. Develops Data Architecture, data standards and data policies to ensure integrity for the sector data resource, and to provide leadership in managing information as a valuable, sustainable sector asset.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Information Management or Data Science or a related field and 3 years related experience*, OR
  • Diploma in Information Technology, Information Management or Data Science or a related field and 4 years related experience*, OR
  • Certification from a recognized institution in Information Technology, Information Management or Data Science or a related field and 5 years related experience*, OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Related work experience must include a minimum of 3 years experience in each of the following:
  • Experience leading project/product teams delivering complex data solutions with Agile development methodologies and delivering incremental data model releases.
  • Experience in information resource management, data management principles, corporate data design, data modeling, metadata management, and data cataloguing.
  • Experience in creating patterns/processes for data integration, data transformations and data pipelines.
  • Experience in creating reusable processes to providing data model quality assurance (e.g., ensuring that data models match defined standards, accurately reflect business requirements and are suitable for corporate integration).

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Experience in designing and creating patterns for data integration using APIs.
  • Experience using various data transformation tools such as Talend, Airflow, Airbyte, DBT, FME, Databricks, Amazon Glue and Azure Data Factory
  • Experience in creating data transformation processes (pipelines, ETL/ELT)
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with geospatial data and technologies (e.g., Oracle Spatial, PostGIS, ESRI) with emphasis on back-end automation, scripting, and data exchange.
  • Experience cataloguing data services (APIs, Dashboards, data pipelines, structured and unstructured data)
  • Experience of Containers and Container Orchestration platforms.
  • Experience of Cloud platforms such Amazon AWS or Azure Cloud or GCP.
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or an understanding of the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK).

Remote work is allowed; this position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia subject to an approved telework agreement.
This position can be based in any Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship office. Some of the locations available are Victoria, Prince George, Kamloops, Vancouver, Nanaimo, Surrey, Kelowna, Chilliwack, Campbell River, Fort Nelson, Nelson, Smithers and Williams Lake.
