Salary Range
$88,636.83 - $101,099.95 annually which includes a 9.9% Temporary Market Adjustment*, plus $36.53 bi-weekly isolation allowance for Smithers; $53.13 bi-weekly Isolation allowance for Fort Nelson.

Job Summary
Support the transformation of government services in this dynamic team
Natural Resource Information & Digital Services (NRIDS) is the information management/information technology (IM/IT) service provider and organizational partner to the Natural Resource Ministries (NRM). As the centralized authority for all information, geospatial data, and technology across the NRM, NRIDS is leading the transformation and modernization of business practices through new and innovative technology solutions, continuous improvement projects and operational IM/IT solutions.
NRIDS provides broad information management services and leadership in data custodianship by way of the creation, maintenance and publication of foundational datasets and geospatial information. NRIDS is also responsible for the full range of services to maintain and support all existing IT systems for the NRM as well as the development of new applications to deliver on government objectives. NRIDS is committed to client engagement and understanding the business needs of the NRM to identify where expert knowledge, technology and data/information solutions will help the sector deliver their programs and services more effectively.
The Senior Technical Analyst will manage the acquisition, configuration, integration, and maintenance of Systems Infrastructure and Middle Tier products and services required by Natural Resource Information & Digital Services. Works to develop and establish systems infrastructure technology policies, procedures and standards and provide guidance to ministry staff, clients and vendors. To design, implement, and provide support for High Availability solutions for business areas where there is a critical requirement for systems availability.
Job Requirements:
  • Degree, diploma or certification in the computer science field or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may also be considered.
  • Recent experience (in the last 5 years) with management and administration of Windows Servers and/or UNIX/Linux servers in a large application hosting environment.
  • Recent experience (in the last 5 years) managing projects, developing action plans, and leading project teams in technical projects.
  • Recent experience (in the last 5 years) in assessing customer requirements, developing and implementing appropriate technical solutions.
  • Experience supervising and/or mentoring staff

Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
  • Experience with enterprise relational database systems & tools (e.g. Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience using PowerShell, Sh/Bash, Python.
  • Experience with using and administrating JIRA, Github, Confluence and/or BitBucket tools.
  • Experience with twelve-factor methodology, agile/scrum principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with Security Vulnerability Remediation Plans and developing recommendations.

About this Position:
Currently there is 1 temporary opportunity available until July 26, 2024.
This position can be based in any Ministry of Water, Land, and Resource Stewardship office. The locations listed above are to assist applicants in searching for this opportunity and are not a complete list of locations.Alternate locations may be considered.
Remote work is allowed. This position can work up to full time from their home in British Columbia as per the Telework Agreement.
