Job Description:

IT Asset Management Team is accountable for Sun Life’s Information Technology (IT) assets, ensuring they are inventoried and appropriately managed through their life cycle (acquisition, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, and retirement). The team is responsible for the governance and reporting for hardware and software assets, software license management, and software currency management.

The IT Asset Specialist plays a pivotal role in defining and implementing the strategic direction for IT Asset Management (ITAM) at Sun Life. Collaborating with stakeholders, this multifaceted position oversees governance processes, implements solutions, and manages the IT asset portfolio to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and enhance performance. The successful candidate will have a primary role in advancing the ITAM maturity by implementing and managing applicable policies and processes using ServiceNow as the primary ITAM platform.

What you need to succeed:

  • Collaborate with service owners, application architects, and technology leaders to define and implement strategic directions for ITAM.
  • Drive operational requirements of the ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) module including analysis, resolution, escalation and reporting as necessary.
  • Define and implement software and hardware asset management governance solutions and processes as per operating guidelines for asset lifecycle, data compliance, contract, and financial functions.
  • Manage the IT asset portfolio ensuring alignment with risk, cost, governance, compliance, and performance metrics.
  • Support the technical team members in solution delivery and contribute towards automation and advancing maturity of ITAM practices.
  • Support software license and currency management governance and reporting
  • Contribute to defining scope, timelines, and plans; analyze feasibility; estimates.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies.
  • Work with Internal Audit and OSFI for assessments as required.
  • Assist in updating annual refresh of ITAM Directive

What you need to succeed:

  • University degree or College diploma in a related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in implementing and managing enterprise-wide IT asset management policies and solutions.
  • Strong working experience with ServiceNow (SAMPro) and ITSM/ITAM solutions and principles
  • Thorough understanding of hardware, software, and license lifecycle processes
  • Solid understanding of data governance principles and data risk management, with specific reference to ServiceNow best practices

Preferred skills:

  • Strong organizational skills with a track record of maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong analytical abilities and innovative problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvements
  • Proven ability to independently engage with senior leaders and influence without direct authority
  • Strong planning and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with experience documenting processes

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
