About the role

The IT Availability Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability and reliability of IT services and systems within an organization. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and managing IT infrastructure to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.

Key Functions

  • Develop and implement strategies for ensuring the availability of IT services in accordance with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to understand the dependencies and critical components of IT services.
  • Implement and manage monitoring tools to track the performance and availability of IT systems.
  • Analyze system performance data and reports to identify trends, potential issues, and areas for improvement.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents affecting IT availability promptly.
  • Work closely with incident management teams to investigate and mitigate the root causes of service disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to IT availability, including configuration details, monitoring processes, and incident response procedures.
  • Identify and assess risks to IT availability and develop strategies to mitigate potential disruptions.
  • Implement and review disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Work closely with other IT teams, including network, security, and system administration, to ensure a holistic approach to availability management.
  • Collaborate with vendors to address issues related to third-party services impacting IT availability.
  • Regularly review and update availability management processes and procedures to incorporate industry best practices.
  • Participate in post-incident reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in IT availability management or a related role.
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and databases.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Certifications such as ITIL, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) may be beneficial.
  • [Bilingual (French and English)] Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
