This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the opportunity to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. Guidelines and requirements for in-office presence are determined by operational need and vary according to the unique needs of each business area.
The opportunity
We are seeking an IT Major Incident and Change Manager to join our IT Service Operations team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada.
In this role you will coordinate all change activities in the Corporation's information systems, lead the restoration of IT services following major IT events, and perform ongoing continuous improvement activities. The role liaises and collaborates across the organization with multidisciplinary teams, including suppliers, and applies best practices to all work activities.
A "day in the life" includes the below and more (check out the job description for full job responsibilities):
Managing response to Major Incidents by ensuring incident owners accurately understand and document business impacts, verifying that Major Incident response teams are resourced appropriately, and accurately communicating resolution status to customers and senior management.
Leading the Major Incident process execution to quickly restore normal service operation and minimize adverse impacts on business operations.
Facilitating post incident reviews, identifying root causes of incidents and failures, and recommending continuous service improvements.
Chairing and coordinating activities of the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Emergency Change Advisory Board (ECAB), accepting, categorizing, and prioritizing change requests in line with business strategy and objectives, and managing the schedule of changes.

What do you need to succeed?
Must have
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Highly desired: ITIL Foundation level certification.
  • 3+ years of experience in working within an IT environment of operational and project cross functional teams of staff, contractors, and external service providers.
  • 2+ years of working experience in an IT Service Management environment, including designing and implementing ITIL processes such as Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Release Management, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience with Service Management tools (ServiceNow is strongly preferred).
  • 1+ years of experience acting as Major Incident Coordinator or Change Manager.
