Job description

How will you contribute?

In 1981, Public Works created five Museum Rooms in Parliament Hill's East Block, the former home of the office of the Prime Minister, the Governor General and the Privy Council Chamber. These historic spaces are open to the public tour program in the summer months and managed by the Senate's Heritage and Curatorial Services department. Three successful candidates will aid in the cleaning of the five rooms and their historic contents from April 3-7, 2023.

Tasks include:
  • Dusting and handling small artefacts, books, artwork frames and furniture
  • Vacuuming upholstery, drapes, casing, baseboards, windowsills and radiators
  • Vacuuming carpets and area rugs
  • Moving furniture including chairs, small tables and shelves
  • Using a ladder to reach assets in high places
Open to

Students enrolled in Algonquin College's Applied Museum Studies program to staff three (3) volunteer positions within the Property & Services Directorate's Heritage and Curatorial Services department.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

  • Currently enrolled in Algonquin College's Applied Museum Studies program;
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment;
