JANITORIAL STAFF (casual)

T he City of Port Alberni is currently accepting applications from enthusiastic, reliable
and hardworking candidates to join the City’s janitorial team. This position will work on
a casual basis at various times on weekends, days and evenings.
This position involves performing a variety of janitorial duties including cleaning public
spaces and washrooms, setting up for events (tables, chairs, etc.), picking up litter, and
general clean-up activities at various City facilities.
Candidates are required to have previous experience in janitorial and building
maintenance work and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license. Preference will be given to
candidates who have successfully completed a Building Service Worker program or
WHMIS training, and those who hold a Swimming Pool Operator 1 Certificate,
Refrigeration Safety Awareness Certificate, Ice Facility Operator or Refrigeration
Operator Certificate (see RFABC.com for more information on certificates).
Shortlisted applicants will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment
fitness test and a Police Information Check. The rate of pay for this position is $27.20
per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits.
