Scorpio Masonry is a busy masonry company with over 35 years of industry experience. We are currently seeking 15 motivated individuals to join our team on a full time basis.

Bricklayers at Scorpio Masonry have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging and rewarding masonry projects. These projects vary in size and type, and include projects such as new commercial buildings and interesting restoration projects, to building residential community entrance features and performing masonry repairs.

Responsibilities include:

• Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required.
• Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools.
• Prepare and lay bricks, concrete block, glass block and various types of stone for new build and repair/restoration projects.
• Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing to walls or other surfaces
• Remove and replace existing masonry work for repairs.
• Restore, clean or paint existing masonry structures.
• Working at heights on scaffolding, swing stages or hydro mobiles.
• General site clean up.
• Handling weight up to 35kg (75lbs).
• Other activities as directed.

Skills, Abilities and Experience:

• Be a Certified Journeyman Bricklayer in British Columbia, have the Red Seal Certification, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent skill level.
• 1 to 2 years experience as a Journeyman Bricklayer.
• Ability to work with others in a team environment.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Communication skills in English, written and spoken.
• The following certifications are an asset: Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS), First Aid, WHMIS, Fall Protection.

Position Specifics:

• This position is available to start immediately.
• This is a union position and wages and benefits are per the collective agreement. Union dues are required.
• Journeyman Bricklayer wage starts at $41.00/hour plus 10% holiday and vacation pay and will be based on certifications, skills, abilities, and experience.

• Reliable transportation is an asset, as some jobsites may have limited access to public transportation.
• You must supply your own tools, steel-toed safety boots, a hard hat and gloves. Other safety equipment will be provided as required for the work environment.

• Great hours, Monday – Friday, with most jobsites working 8 hours/day from 7:00am – 3:30pm. Hours may range between 32-40 hours/week depending on weather and site conditions. Overtime may also be requested on occasion.

Location of Work:

Our office is located at 12240 Vickers Way, Richmond BC V6V 1H9. Worksites will be at locations throughout the lower mainland and may include some projects throughout the province of British Columbia.
