Key Responsibilities:
The journeyperson shall perform all duties required to install, maintain and service HVAC and refrigeration equipment including.
o Measure and lay out reference points for installation.
o Assemble and install components using specialized hand and power tools following manufacturer instructions and blueprints.
o Measure and cut piping and connect piping using brazing equipment.
o Test for leaks using testing devices.
o Charge systems with refrigerant, calibrate and perform routine maintenance.
o Connect components to power sources, ducts and refrigerant lines. After installation, the mechanic ensures that the system is functioning optimally.
o Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments.
o Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components.
o Read and interpret engineered drawings, blueprints and specifications.
o Test lines, components, and connections for leaks.
Mechanics are dispatched from a central location and assigned to job sites.
Mentor, lead, and oversee the work of apprentices. Will include human resources objectives including effective attendance management and disciplinary processes.
This position also requires maintaining a safe work environment.
Work Conditions:
This position is physically demanding and involves exposure to all elements of outdoor work often at heights and in extreme temperatures. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in physically challenging conditions.
Requirements:
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Red Seal Certificate
Current brazing certificate for Saskatchewan
Valid class 5 drivers license with a satisfactory drivers abstract. A company vehicle will be provided by Polar Refrigeration.
Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) Certificate
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
Tools, CSA approved safety footwear, work gloves and appropriate work wear
