Job description

 
Course description: This course introduces the basic concepts, frameworks and methodologies useful to managers in crafting and executing entrepreneurial business strategies in technology-based companies. In the first part of the course, students gain an understanding of the external, internal, and dynamic environments of a business and the elements of a superior competitive position. In the second part, we focus on designing and delivering customer value, which involves strategic decisions about segmentation, targeting and positioning, and tactical decisions related to product introductions, marketing communications, distribution channels and pricing. In the third part of the course, we focus on the fundamentals of innovation, including commercialization, entrepreneurship and R&D management.

Class schedule: Lectures LEC0103 Monday 13:00-15:00,   
Sessional dates of appointment:  February 12, 2024 – April 30, 2024.  
Hours: 0.3 HCE (up to a maximum of 230 hrs)  
Salary: CUPE minimum salary rates for a half course (HCE), inclusive of vacation pay, are: Sessional Lecturer 1 - $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer 1 Long Term - $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer 2 - $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer 2 Long Term - $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer 3 - $10,362.76 and Sessional Lecturer 3 Long Term - $10,570.02. Should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail. 
Minimum Qualifications:  Ph.D. or professional experience in the area of marketing and Competitive Strategy; previous experience teaching a similar course is highly desirable;  
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with engineering concepts, experience with TEAL teaching techniques 
Description of duties:  
-Prepare for and deliver 4-5 weeks of lectures to cover a Maternity Leave;  
-Set assignments and term work assessments as appropriate;  
-Set and grade a final assessment;  
-Collate and submit marks;  
-Handle petitions after final marks have been submitted;  
-Communicate with students both inside and outside of class times.  
-May be required to provide a deferred exam.  
-Delivery of this course is intended to be in-person but may be online or a hybrid as dictated by Public Health guidelines.
