Position Overview

The Financial Operations team in Finance is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Junior Application and Finance Data Workflow Analyst.

Reporting to the Manager of ERP Finance, the Junior Analyst is responsible for configuration, maintenance and managing workflow reassignment and delegation activities for the FSCM PeopleSoft system to enable users to manage the day-to-day business operations for financial transactions at the University of Calgary.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Support and Maintenance

  • Clarify and fully resolve workflow issues in a timely manner, coordinating solutions with other support units and external departments as required to ensure accurate and timely approval of Finance transactions.
  • Provide recommendations and direct support to all users specifically on the delegation of Finance transactions in PeopleSoft, as well as the approval and reassignment of Finance Transactions as required.
  • Resolve system issues and apply fixes in order that the various modules are kept up-to-date and working as intended.
  • Test solutions thoroughly using scenarios, scripts, and data to validate the development and/or configuration against the design specifications, under the guidance of more senior analysts, and in collaboration with IT Application Developers.
  • Communicate changes to end users and training developers to improve consistency of usage across units and departments.
  • Implement tested and approved solutions into production environments using appropriate change control procedures.
  • Test IT-specific projects in the FSCM system such as version upgrades, application of maintenance packs/bundles, Oracle database upgrades, PeopleTools upgrades, Cobol upgrades, implementation of IT specific applications such as the PeopleSoft Portal under the direction of more senior Application Analysts and in collaboration with IT Application Developers.
  • Participate in cross-functional troubleshooting, analysis and testing with other PeopleSoft functions and IT units (e.g., HCM, Campus Solutions, Enterprise Reporting).

Business Analysis

  • Assist with design of solutions and have support responsibility for system configuration and reconfiguration for one or more modules to facilitate approved changes to the system.
  • Assist in the analysis of business requirements to evaluate and recommend appropriate solutions.

Reporting

  • Design and build queries to access PeopleSoft data based on Finance business unit requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with Functional Analyst and the ERP Development team on advanced queries.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred; a combination of IT or business experience, training and education may be considered.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years of recent, related experience.
  • Experience in a University environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of one or more PeopleSoft FSCM modules, as it relates to business process.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Query and PS SQL is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and interact respectfully and persuasively with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to provide effective advice, information, and assistance to a wide range of customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong problem-solving skills; uses diplomacy, good judgement, and negotiation skills to seek satisfactory resolutions or implementations.
  • Strong documentation skills and experience implementing new processes and change management strategies.
