Junior Bookkeeper - Self Employed

We are seeking to fill immediately a Junior Bookkeeper position. This role is in office with oversight from our Treasurer and the Pastor. This individual would currently be self-employed or someone who is looking for minimal hours of work to compensate their income. This position will require someone to give us at least ten to twelve hours per month. Hours will increase to 15 during year end reconciliation to prepare fro the auditors review. We will require someone who is bondable. You have bookkeeping experience specific to Non-for-Profits and or within a church environment would be an asset.

DUTIES

• Maintain individual offering reports of those that give
• Write cheques for bills as they are due
• Manage record keeping received from third party payroll
• Maintain necessary accounting records up to date & balanced for each month and quarter
• Experience with Sage Bookkeeping Software is preferred

MONTHLY

• Maintain purchase and vendor receipts
• Disbursements Journal
• Bank reconciliations
• Financial statements to be prepared for the Board's monthly meetings
• Maintain paid yearly invoice file and yearly supplier files

SEMI-ANNUALLY

• HST rebate report (Jan-June) and (July-Dec)

ANNUALLY

• Income Tax receipts for tithes & offerings
• Charity report for CRA is very important
• Provide a written review of the church's financials, praises or concerns that will be presented to the Members at the yearly Annual Business Meeting

Our current Bookkeeper is retiring her business, but will be available for training and support.
