The Opportunity:
The Junior Project Manager/Engineer reports to the Capital Projects Engineer in the planning, design, and delivery of municipal capital projects as assigned. This includes the coordination, management and engineering of in-house projects or those delivered by engineering consultants. The Junior Project Manager/Engineer will develop & monitor project budgets, designs and schedules to ensure that the project will the meet appropriate and intended objectives. The Junior Project Manager/Engineer will be responsible for undertaking functional studies, pre-designs, detailed designs, tendering, survey, contract administration, construction management, inspection and final acceptance of assigned projects.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or an equivalent diploma is required;
- Eligible membership in the Association of Professional Engineers, and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) as an EIT, Professional Engineer or a Professional Licensee (Engineering) (P.L.(Eng.) or;
- Eligible membership in ASET and capable of obtaining their P.L.(Eng).
- Two years directly related experience in the design, construction and management of municipal Capital projects, after graduation.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil Engineering.
- Ability to perform calculations and design work to a high level of accuracy, as work is performed independently and errors may have significant consequences.
- Knowledge of the principles of surveying and computer aided drafting and design.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and product
- Knowledge of current methods and techniques as applied to design and construction of various municipal works: including water, sanitary sewage, storm drainage, traffic signal and transportation.
- Occasionally required to work outside normal hours
- Ability to work with contractors, consultants, City staff, property owners, and the general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
- Valid Alberta Drivers' License

Remuneration:
$82,720 to $103,400 per annum.
Hours of Work:
75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
