Description

The Junior Sales Representative role is a developmental role which is intended to gain market knowledge, pricing and analytical skills to generate sales orders that match customer needs to available supply while achieving profit and volume targets. With the support of the sales team members the incumbent will develop relationships with existing and new lumber customers. We are a small, fast paced, and people-oriented team, so each member is a vital partner and a key contributor to our overall success. This position is part of Weyerhaeuser's Canadian Lumber Sales team located in Kamloops, BC. This is primarily an inside sales role with up to 20% travel required.

Our Canadian mills produce approximately 750 million board feet of lumber annually from three lumber facilities located in Alberta and British Columbia. The sales organization operates in a team-based environment to ensure strong delivery of value to the business and timely delivery of quality products to customers.

A Successful candidate will:

  • Develop, grow and create brand loyalty with customers. Maintain and grow customer relationships aligned with strategic direction. Respond quickly and effectively to customer concerns and issues, escalating as needed.
  • Enter and track customer orders in an enterprise sales system. Does basic evaluation of sales and customer performance using available software and technology.
  • Effectively negotiates price, tally, quantity, and delivery to align customer needs and mill production. Provides support for contract negotiations
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of product, manufacturing, and transportation to effectively provide customer solutions and deliver business goals.
  • Participate in team sales activities. Communicate effectively and collaborate with the sales team and other support groups. Understand when to seek support and guidance from more experienced team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, commerce, engineering, forestry, wood technology or related field required
  • High school or GED required
  • Ability to successfully develop customer relationships through oral, written and in-person communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand customer product and service needs and develop sales plans and strategies that align with current product offering.
  • Proficient and timely completion of individual sales transactions within an enterprise sales system.
  • Capabilities with MS Office products and data management / interpretation.
  • Negotiation skills including tally management, price negotiation skills, contract and transactional negotiation, with acceptable price performance vs benchmark.
  • Product knowledge including mill sourcing, grade and species characteristics, manufacturing basics and competitive environment.
  • Understand transportation, credit and relevant aspects of sales.
  • Effective oral and verbal communication.
  • Demonstrate listening and learning.
  • Collaborate with team and outside groups

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $68,100 - $96,100 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Nonunion Canadian employees are automatically enrolled in our Defined Contribution Pension Plan, which includes a paid company match up to 6%, in addition to a company contribution equaling up to 7.25% of your base salary. Employees are also eligible to enroll in the Retirement Savings Plan (Group RRSP).
