Kelowna Delivery Lead (Commercial 5-Ton Delivery)

Are you an experienced home delivery professional who is ready to take on a leadership role in the transportation industry? Docker Transport is seeking a Local Delivery Lead to oversee all operations within the Okanagan region. As the Local Delivery Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence and client satisfaction while leading a team of Contractors and Employees.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform the Delivery Associate position at a high level for a minimum of 4 days per week (see below)
• Act as the primary point of contact for local field delivery teams
• Collaborate with the BC Operations Manager to promote safe and efficient operations
• Establish and implement safe work procedures within local delivery teams
• Address workplace concerns and safety violations promptly
• Provide regular operational reports to the BC Operations Manager
• Liaise with Docker Operations team to approve the weekly work schedule for all local delivery teams
• Conduct new hire orientation activities for local delivery employees and subcontractors
• Submit regular reporting of all equipment, tools, and trucks and promptly report any defects

Requirements:

• Valid Class 5 Driver's License and Clean Drivers Abstract
• 1 - 4 years of commercial-truck last-mile delivery experience
• Strong people management and leadership skills
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize
• Well-developed interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills
• Proven track record of adaptability to respond to changing work conditions and client requests
• Keen eye for identifying workplace hazards
• Deep care for ensuring team members are properly supported
• Strong work ethic with a focus on improving processes

Delivery Associate Position

The Delivery Associate will operate a commercial 5-ton truck. Adherence to National Safety Code standards and commercial driver policies is a must.

The Delivery Driver will work with other Delivery Associates to perform retail commercial, and multi-family deliveries. Each day, teams load a 5-ton truck with large items, strapping down all the items inside to secure. Teams then travel to various customer locations to deliver the large items. Many items require team lifting and exceed 100lbs in weight. Dollies, straps, suction cups, and other lifting tools are provided. Teams work together to complete all deliveries damage-free and provide excellent customer service. Teams use planning, tools, and safe lifting techniques in each delivery.

Responsibilities of the Delivery Associate position:

• Performing necessary pre and post trip inspection. Reporting of any vehicle maintenance issues
• Punctual and reliable for regular shifts beginning in the morning
• Review assigned route and, if required, troubleshoot with dispatchers
• Work in synergy with other team members
• Load a 5-ton truck with large delivery items, strapping down the load to secure items for damage-free transportation
• Travel to various customer locations to deliver products within assigned route schedule and time windows
• Complete all deliveries damage-free and provide excellent customer service
• Utilize dollies, straps, suction cups and other lifting tools, as provided
• Promptly inform dispatchers of any deviations from the plan or delivery issues as they arise with complete and clear information
• Administer accurate delivery records using the provided smartphone apps
• Acquire proof-of-delivery signatures from each customer and upload product photos
• A focus on health and safety of yourself and others. Adhering to health and safety protocols and reporting any possible hazard
• Adhere to National Safety Code standards and company commercial driving policies
• Keeping an accurate and up-to-date logbook for trips exceeding 160km from home base

Required for the Delivery Associate position:

• Valid class 5 Driver’s license
• Qualifying commercial driver’s abstract
• Safe heavy items lifting techniques. Physically capable of lifting 50 to 100lbs
• Experience in operating basic hand and power tools
• Basic personal protective equipment (PPE) - Steel toe work shoes (6-inch ankle), hard hat, hi-vis vest
• Verifiable commercial driving experience
