Kennel Manager

Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours is seeking to hire a full-time Kennel Manager. Having been established in 1983, Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours is the founder, and the premier, dog sled touring company in the Bow Valley. As a family owned and operated company, it is our desire to share our passion for humane and ethical dog sledding with our guests. We are looking for a passionate, hardworking, organized individual, who excels at providing daily love, care and enrichment to our husky heroes!

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-orientated Kennel Manager to join our team and to care for our kennel of 180 husky heroes. Enthusiasm, dependability and a positive attitude are required. This person will manage and oversee all daily operations pertaining to the running of our kennel, properly implement training and daily oversight to maintain proper care and safety of our dogs, as well as manage and coordinate our adoption program. The ideal candidate will love dogs, have breed and veterinary knowledge, make cleanliness and sanitation a top priority, and be able to operate small machinery. Prior kennel management and veterinary experience will be given priority. Experience working with multiple dogs, beyond personal ownership, is an asset. Will report directly to ownership. Start date of April 15, 2024.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include but are not limited to:

· Must be active, energetic, outdoor-loving with the highest standards in dog care.

· Communicate clearly, effectively and professionally with all staff.

· Possess general knowledge of breeds and animal behavior

· Work to ensure the highest standards of day-to-day operations are met or exceeded

· Maintain daily cleaning routines and maintain facility in clean, organized and professional manner

· Ensure all safety standards, procedures and protocols are maintained, including ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the entire kennel for all dogs and staff

· Maintain an inventory of supplies

· Monitor health of animals, and provide medications as needed

· Assist with special projects, events and promotions as needed

· Train, monitor and supervise staff to ensure the highest quality of care

· Ensure proper use and maintenance of all building equipment, supplies and dog equipment

· Correspond with veterinarians on vaccine schedules and medical health information

· Lead with integrity and maintain high standards. Be a positive example to co-workers

· Be punctual and maintain excellent attendance

· Social Media Savvy
