Kindergarten Assistant & KinderCare Supervisor

Qualifications: A warm and open disposition with the ability to care for children of mixed ages. Eagerness to learn about Waldorf education. Comfort in working outdoors in all seasons. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Waldorf training and experience preferred, but not required. Waldorf Academy's early childhood programs are a full member of WECAN.

Ability to provide support and work cooperatively with the lead teacher; ability to work quietly with both the children and lead teacher; ability to follow policies and procedures of the school. Ability to plan and execute developmentally appropriate activities. Assists the teacher in the support and supervision of students who may exhibit emotional, behavioral, or academic challenges.

SUMMARY: You will be working to support the Lead and Assistant Kindergarten teachers from 10:45-3:00pm and Leading the KinderCare program from 3:00-5:30pm.

HOURS: 10:45am-5:30pm, Monday-Friday

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparing snacks and activities for the afternoon program beginning at 3pm. (being aware of children’s allergies, medical condition and dietary restrictions)
• Communicating regularly with the lead class teachers.
• Taking KinderCare attendance: Responsible for marking attendance and ensuring parents are signing children out at pick-up.
• Maintaining safety and observing playground rules when outdoors.
• Cleaning and putting away playground equipment - getting indoor and outdoor spaces ready for the next day.
• Participating in a professional development process, as indicated by the school (i.e. mentoring with lead kindergarten teacher on a bi-weekly basis)
• Ensuring that all doors are locked and secured, stove top, oven and all lights are off, when leaving the premises at the end of the program.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
