Job Overview
Reports to: Shop Foreman/Lead Hand on Shift
Shift: 5x2
Location: Wabush, NL
Key Job Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly assistant. Dress mining Electric Shovel and Drill components, such as saddle blocks, breakout wrenches, crawler frames, and other common mechanical tasks.
- Track and manage inventory on consumables and usage.
- Arrange and organize materials for jobs.
- Show some skill with hand tools and assembly and/or fabrication skills.
- Duties may include moving machinery, tools and products to correct shop locations using an overhead crane/ telehandler or forklift.
- Duties in the manufacturing and or refurbishment process for general labor tasks.
- Painting components.
- Prepping components for shipping ie: strapping pallets, arrange with the warehouse to receive components for shipping.
- Assist Journeymen welders, mechanics and machinists. Follow directions from peers and supervisors.
- Strong focus on shop cleanliness and removing excess material/garbage’s daily.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Completion of high school diploma.
- A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a manufacturing and or refurbishment environment an asset.
- Qualified candidates will have positive attitude, strong work ethic and mechanical ability.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Welding / grinding skills an asset.
- Overhead crane or Mechanical lift truck experience an asset.
- Previous related experience an asset.
- Valid Driver’s License and own transportation are required.
- Must have a strong safety focus.
