Land Activity Director

Are you passionate about working with children, rock climbing and challenge courses, and exploring the great outdoors? Camp Kawartha is seeking a safe and enthusiastic Land Activity Director to facilitate the operations of our challenge courses this upcoming summer. Through this role, you will have the opportunity to build skills in challenge course facilitation and management, while providing campers with a safe, fun, and memorable experience with aerial challenge course elements.

Job Overview:

As Land Activity Director you oversee the running and maintenance of all ropes courses on the property. You will have the opportunity to connect with the camp community through encouraging campers to explore outside their comfort zones, take calculated risks, and try new things! As a member of the Senior staff team, the Land Activity Director is responsible for staff training on the challenge course, and leading adventure classes for older campers. The Land Activity Director has the opportunity to innovate and engage in all our land-based programming throughout the summer.

Responsibilities:

Some responsibilities of the role include:

  • Complete daily checks of ropes courses, harnesses, helmets, and land equipment for damage
  • Create engaging programming for campers both with ropes courses and leadership initiatives
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of campers and fellow staff
  • Train staff in how to safely lead leadership initiatives and ropes courses
  • Report any concerns about challenge course equipment to the Summer Camp Director
  • Promote land-based activity programming through new initiatives, with the intention of getting campers involved with high-ropes and low-ropes courses

Qualifications:

  • CUI Level 2 Certification OR 200+ hours of Ropes Course facilitation experience and a willingness to obtain a CUI Level 2 Certification offered by Camp Kawartha is required
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C is required
  • Recent Criminal Reference Check is required
  • Experience working with children is an asset
