Job Summary
Under direction of the Supervisor, Tree Preservation and Protection, the successful candidate will be responsible for working with the Tree Preservation and Protection team on Development Applications, Environmental Assessments, and Capital projects by assisting with pre-design research, review of internal and external submissions and/or on-site field review for Community Services, Forestry.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Researching and investigating sites and properties for pre-design recommendations, including on-site 
-Assist with the on-site field review and reporting on project construction activities under the guidance of  to ensure goods receipt in accordance
-Assist with the review of designs, master plans, construction drawings, specifications, costing and contract documents for projects involving Forestry assets.
-Assist with the review of site plans, grading plans and technical details relative to design and construction of capital projects
-Assist with reviewing and preparing comments relating to land development applications, Committee of Adjustment variances/land division requests and tree permits.
-Preparing minutes and reports relative to projects.
-Performing other related office and site duties as assigned.
-Provision of consultative services to the internal departments, public agencies and the community.
-Assist with coordinating with internal and external stakeholder.
-Assist with formal presentations and open houses, public information sessions and public meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
-Graduation from a recognized university or college in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Technology and 1 year experience in design and development, or progressive private practice experience on a variety of projects that have been built.
-Must be eligible for membership with the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA).
-ISA Certification is an asset or willing to obtain within 6 months of start date of employment.
-Working background in the preparation of master plans, concept plans, contract documents, specifications construction and technical details would be considered an asset.
-Functional understanding of the development approvals process would be an asset.
-Self-directed organization, problem solving and the ability to bring forward creative results.
-Working knowledge of construction methods and engineering principles considered an asset.
-Ability to work effectively in a team environment consisting of professional Arborists, Landscape Architects, Planners and Engineers.
-Demonstrated advanced knowledge of Word, Power Point and Excel.
-Demonstrated excellent verbal, report writing and graphic communication skills.
-Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle is required.
 
Hourly Rate/Salary: $ 24.42 - $ 32.55 
Hours of Work: 40
