Role Summary
Reporting to the Foreman, the Lead Hand will be responsible for following out daily landscape job instructions while supporting the Foreman. Based out of our landscape job sites in Charlottetown and surrounding area, this role will carry out all landscape design and landscape contracts.

What You’ll Do

• Assist with periodic supervision, delegation, coordination, and execution of day-to-day work activities in absence of Foreman.
• Build the landscape projects as designed.
• Assist in managing the safety, quality, and productivity of all work.
• Operate various landscape tools and equipment.
• Complete projects of stone, wood, water, plantings, etc.
• Maintain standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, job sites, and shop/yard areas.
• Be responsible for a clean and safe job site.
• Work with a focus on meeting and exceeding targets and goals.
• Adhere and support all safety requirements and quality standards set forth in the PEI Occupational Health and Safety General Regulations, PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act and Island Coastal’s Safety Management System.
• Use your experience to identify health and safety deficiencies and support Management in implementing solutions OR report to Management when required.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• 2+ years landscape experience in a landscape environment required.
• Post secondary education in horticulture or a related field considered an asset.
• Red seal Landscape Horticulturist considered an asset.
• Landscape certification considered an asset.
• Strong work ethic with demonstrated dedication and commitment to quality work.
• Knowledge of proper equipment utilization, operation, and maintenance.
• Ability to handle a physically demanding role in various locations and climate extremes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid drivers license considered an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 8 months

Salary: $22.50-$24.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

• DCS / DEC (preferred)

Experience:

• Landscape maintenance: 2 years (required)

Licence/Certification:

• Red Seal Landscape Horticulturalist Certificate (preferred)

• Charlottetown, PE (required)
