Laundry Aide

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for Laundry Aide to join our The Gardens team in Qualicum Beach, B.C.

Benefits: in accordance with the union collective agreement

Shifts: 22:30 to 0630, 2 shifts per week, on Friday and Saturday (PT)

Wage: $26.18 with HEABC levelling, 1st responder premium and weekend night shift premium
Reporting to the Support Services Manager, the Laundry Aide performs general cleaning which includes using an auto scrubber on floors and washing and folding laundry. The overnight Laundry Aide also responds to building and resident emergencies, and contacts Paramedics or other Emergency Responders when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Practices and maintains established standards for proper cleanliness and sanitation required by the Health Department.
• Cares for equipment, supplies and work areas and keeps equipment clean and safely stored.
• Reports defective and damaged equipment and furnishings.
• keeps inventory in order.
• Replenishes supplies and understands the use and application of cleaning chemicals.
• Responds to building or resident emergencies. Calls 911 to report emergencies, and documents incidents.
• Participates in facility committees and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a care home, hotel/club kitchen
• Excellent Communication Skill by demonstrating tact, diplomacy, empathy and patience. Respect for confidentiality agreement.
• Proof of Vaccination
• Ability to take direction and learn procedures
• Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
• Level 1 First Aid Certificate or willingness to complete.
