The Executive Council Office is the centre of excellence for the Government of Yukon. We are leaders in the modernization of government standards and processes. We provide central strategic advice to advance government priorities through policy development, communications, intergovernmental relations, Indigenous relations, major project management, youth initiatives, Indigenous and scientific knowledge science and by supporting the Water Board and the Commissioner's Office. We also provide direct support to the Premier and Cabinet.

The opportunity…

The Finance, Administration and Systems Branch of the Executive Council Office (ECO) is looking for a dynamic individual who approaches problem-solving collaboratively, respects diverse perspectives and demonstrates commitment to professionalism through leadership, dedication, and integrity. As a key member of our team and a go to resource; this position is responsible for planning, leading, evaluating, and monitoring the Financial Operations for the Executive Council Office as well as supporting the development of the department's budgets.

  • Post-secondary education in accounting, business administration, or related discipline.
  • Considerable experience leading Financial Operations, including process development, and provision of training, guidance, and support.
  • Considerable experience completing financial functions; reporting, analysis, budgeting, tracking expenditures and commitments, procurement, completing year-end reports and/or reconciling accounts.
  • Considerable experience applying legislation and/or policies and procedures to make decisions and provide advice and recommendations.
  • Considerable experience using financial systems and Microsoft applications (please indicate specific systems you have utilized).

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (professionalism, positive attitude, tact and diplomacy)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others and positively contribute to a team environment.
  • Strong skills in attention to detail and organizing and prioritizing work.
  • Initiative, self-motivation and able to work independently.
  • Strong leadership skills.
