Lead Server

The following are the overall job duties for this role but are not limited to.

SUMMARY

As Lead Server, you will be responsible for directly servicing and supervising the service of guests in the Westward-Ho! Patios, Halfway Hut/Kiosk, Beverage Cart & other On-Course F&B services. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of guest service by adhering to all University Golf Club’s policies and procedures during operating hours, while working in a clean and safe environment, and efficiently executing and achieving all departmental goals.

The Lead Server position will report directly to the Westward Ho Restaurant Managers with a commitment to teamwork and a focus on achieving the department’s overall vision and goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential

· Services aspects in specific food and beverage assigned areas and operations and acknowledges, greets and thanks all staff and guests

· Services and supports the restaurant, halfway hut/kiosk, beverage cart, and other on course operations to ensure proper room preparation, execution, and clean up

· Focuses on tasks centered on daily operations including floor service, guest relations, teamwork, cleaning, order taking, payment processing, serving food and drink, and adhering to Club policies and procedures

· Supports the Restaurant Managers and acts as the Restaurant leader in their absence

· Must be available to work evenings/weekends as we are open 7 days a week

Staff Expectations

· Attends seasonal training and orientation

· Directly supervises and ensures all club and departmental policies are adhered to including: uniforms, opening/closing procedures, codes of conduct, cleaning schedules, and operational systems

· Communicates effectively with other team members

· Learns from coaching when an area is identified that needs improvement

· Utilizes empowerment to take initiative to drive sales and repeat business

· Understands the restaurant organizational chart

· Evaluates and supervises performance

· Fulfills all aspects outlined in job description

· Able to use the Lightspeed POS system effectively and efficiently

· Ensures Bartender policies and daily tasks are adhered to

· Act as the Restaurant closer as per required

· Ensures the cleanliness, organization, and service of an efficient bar

· Responsible for cash/card handling procedures and provides an accurate, balanced deposit of all sales

Departmental Teamwork

· Strives to achieve departmental goals and adheres to the overall UGC F&B vision, mission, and core values

· Works with F&B Managers, Chef, and Events Department as required

· Communicates effectively with the food and beverage management team with a commitment to collaboration, teamwork, discussion, adaptability, and adherence

· Communicates and teams well with all F/B departments ensuring appropriate staff levels and ensuring assigned responsibilities are carried out

· Implements and supports all Club and departmental initiatives and programs as requested by management

Departmental Results

· Ensures compliance with licensing, hygiene and health and safety legislation/guidelines

· Protects Club, staff, and guests by adhering to all safety, sanitation, food preparation, food storage and alcohol beverage control policies including confirming legal drinking age and discontinuing service to intoxicated guests

· Ensuring all inventory control policies are executed and adhered to

· Controls costs of all food and beverage outlets by assisting management, as requested, in portion and inventory control

· Maximizes food and beverage sales by identifying and targeting sales opportunities through “up-selling”

Customer Relations

· Handles customer enquiries and complaints and utilizes problem solving techniques to resolve issues

· Maintains guest satisfaction by handing inquiries, concerns or comments and providing solutions; acquiring feedback from guests, staff, and co-workers in order to ensure satisfaction and/or implement service improvement ideas; developing new concepts to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business

· Encourages customer feed back

· Ensures guest service standards are created, implemented, and executed at a high level

· Maintains high visibility at the course by greeting and listening to customers’ comments and needs
