The Penticton Centre for Exceptional Learning is a registered charity that supports Autistic children and youth who have not found success in the brick-and-mortar school system. Our (non-ABA based) Learning Centre has been specifically designed with the sensory, attention, and anxiety needs of our 25 students. Each student receives personalized programming based on their individual needs.
We are looking for Learning Coaches to join our dedicated team of educators and lead classrooms of three to four K-12 students. Selected candidates will be self-starters with education and experience in supporting children with social and learning challenges.
Duties include:
- collaborating with co-educators to implement (academic, social-skill, adaptive-skill, self-regulation, etc.) curriculum and strategies to support student learning;
- planning lessons and outings in the community to enrich learning;
- communicating with classroom teachers, special education teachers, OTs/SLPs/PTs, counselors, and parents as necessary; and
- driving students in company and or personal vehicle to community outings.
A diploma or certificate in a human services-related field, or experience working with Autistic children and youth is required for this position. Direct program-delivery experience with a working knowledge of ASD, ADHD, and anxiety-disorder-support is preferred. Experience with online learning an asset. Training provided to the right candidates.
