We are looking for a full-time Library Technician to join us on a fixed term contract. Guided by the BC Ministry of Education curriculum, our program is built on a student-centred, inquiry based collaborative approach to learning. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, innovative school community focussed on personal excellence, whole child development, and overall well being.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Create a positive, welcoming, and inclusive environment for students and staff in our Learning Commons
- Act as a support role during class visits to the library under the direction of the teacher librarian
- Promote library materials and programs to encourage interest among learners in consultation with the teacher librarian
- Support with coordination of activities and programs to support library services
- Ensure library space is organized
- Reshelf reading print material in a timely manner
- Order supplies for the Library
- Assist librarian with displays and projects
- Organize teacher professional resource areas
- Manage collection and weed as appropriate
- Oversee our After School Care program daily until 5:30pm
- Connect and collaborate with other teams as needed including maintenance and IT
- Perform other related duties as required
Skills/Attributes:
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Ability to work methodically, paying attention to detail
- Possess strong organizational and communication skills
- Team player, with good interpersonal skills
- Open and flexible
- Ability to problem solve
- Ability to positively interact with elementary students in providing direct services to students
Minimum Qualifications:
- Library Technician diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Destiny ILS, Google Apps for Education, and other technologies preferred
- Experience working in a school library an asset
- Knowledge of age appropriate fiction and non-fiction literature an asset
- Experience working with elementary age students preferred
Employment and Application Details:
This role starts April 2024. There will be an opportunity for training in early March if the successful candidate is available.
Compensation: $43,000 - $46,500.
