Full-time Classified Position

Reporting to the Director, this position is responsible for managing library systems and technical services. This position manages Library Technology including the Integrated Library System (ILS), digital services, website, acquisitions, and cataloguing. This position has overall responsibility for planning and directing technical services operations.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Configures and manages all aspects of the operation of the integrated library System (ILS), including but not limited to, maintaining the ILS databases and records, functions, products, upgrades and new releases, and responding to issues;
  • Provides technology training for staff;
  • Evaluates technology, recommend standards, and make recommendations for purchases and oversee implementation;
  • Collects data, performs statistical analysis and summarizes findings in applicable reports;
  • Manages Technical Services operations including ordering, receiving, cataloguing, processing, deliveries, special projects, and budgets;
  • Oversees planning, implementing, administering, and evaluating projects and services;
  • Leads development of digital services and digital content including online collections, social media, and emerging online services;
  • Manages library-related contracts and negotiates licenses and subscription terms for electronic resources; maintain vendor partnerships;
  • Supervises staff including daily work, performance management and leave approvals;
  • Administers collections budget including year-end fiscal reporting;
  • Liaison with Teacher Librarians to facilitate technical services provided to school libraries;
  • Develops policies, procedures, and supports activities to ensure access to the full range of Library Technology and resources is available for public use and staff operations; and
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Library and Information Science.
  • Considerable Supervisory Experience.
  • Knowledge of library cataloguing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of Integrated library systems.
  • Knowledge in current library-related technological practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Must have a good previous attendance and work record and a satisfactory criminal record check prior to beginning employment.

Other Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism would be an asset.

Preference will be given to UPSE Civil Employees as per the UPSE Civil Collective Agreement.

Salary Range:$35.33 - $44.16 (Level 18 UPSE) $68,894 - $86,112 annually

Bi-Weekly Hours:75 hours bi-weekly
