About the Role
The person in the role of Lifeguard at Simeon Park of Magna International Inc. is responsible for instructing swimming lessons and supervising recreational swimming activities to ensure the safety of all patrons. In addition to this, Lifeguards are also required to act as Park Attendants and help in maintaining the park grounds and guest services. This position reports directly to the Pool Supervisor and the Maintenance Coordinator.
Your Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise recreational swim activities to ensure the safety of all patrons
- Instruct swimming classes
- Skill testing
- Creating/following lesson plans
- Completing worksheets
- Awards processing
- Pool maintenance
- Perform rescues/first aid as required
- Park maintenance
- Painting
- Lawn mowing and trimming
- Perform garbage collection
- Cleaning and maintaining indoor facilities
- Operate machinery
- Additional general labour as required
- Perform daily housekeeping of pool office and pavilion
- Gatehouse support
- Guest services
Who we are looking for
- Must be enrolled in a university or college program
Work Environment
- Outdoors
- Must be available to work on weekends
- 40 hours per week
Your preferred qualifications
- National Lifeguard Certification (NLS)
- First Aid & CPR Certification
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
- Prior experience as a Lifeguard would be an asset
Candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Records Check and, if deemed necessary, a Credit Check as part of the candidate selection process.
