As the Limited Surveyor Assistant 2, you will be a front-line service provider who will assist in the completion of various surveying tasks to support a wide range of surveying projects. The ability to adapt to emerging technologies combined with the expectation to complete projects efficiently is at the forefront of the survey industry. You will be responsible for assisting to complete surveying duties in accordance with well-established standard operating procedures, standard work instructions, and safe work practices. Primary duties include:
- Assist with field surveying tasks and ensure they are completed in accordance with standard operating procedures, standard work instructions, safe work practices, and other site-specific safety policies.
- Complete surveying measurements and tasks with a high attention to detail to obtain complete, precise, and accurate observations and records.
- Assist with identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving errors and omissions in surveying data, drawings, and/or other technical information.
- Communicate effectively with surveyors and contractors to complete surveying tasks.
- Ensure that equipment and supplies are properly utilized, stowed, replenished, and maintained.
Qualifications
- A completed 2 year diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, or a very closely related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in municipal surveying.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits.
- A valid eRailsafe certification is an asset.
- A proven ability to listen to and follow instructions, communicate effectively, take initiative, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Working Conditions: This position works primarily outdoors in physically demanding and hazardous environments and in inclement weather.
Pre-employment Requirements
- Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
