Description
Regina Immigrant Women Centre is an immigrant settlement agency dedicated to integrating newcomer women and their families. We are hiring 1 full-time and 1 part time English language instructor for adult newcomers. Reporting to the LINC Manager, will participate in curriculum development, teaching, assessment and evaluation of students to comply with Canadian Language Benchmarks (reading, writing, listening, speaking) (CLB) for English.
DUTIES
-Provide CLB level 1-4 skill building, language & settlement lessons, guided by current CLB standards
-Develop lesson plans and prepare materials consistent with the English language training program
-To provide attendance reports monthly to the manager in a manner acceptable to the funders as well as contribute to funders reports and narratives.
-Maintain student portfolio files and works with students on their progress reports
-Conduct individual student progress conferences
-assisting in the design of complementary workshops, seminars and field trips
-Meet program target and record monthly activities as required by IRCC. Notify managers when targets are not met.
-Collaborate with other ESL teachers and program administration to resolve student issues
-Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelors Degree in Education preferred, relevant combination of experience and training will also be considered.
-Must be TESL-certified
-Minimum of one year experience teaching ESL to adults with demonstrated knowledge and an understanding of CLB competencies and resources
-Experience using technology such as Microsoft Office, Zoom, Google applications
-Ability to deal effectively and courteously with people from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds
-Must be eligible to legally work in Canada
