The Opportunity:
McElhanney – Recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, has an opportunity for a Line Locator to join our team in Calgary or Red Deer, AB! Reporting to the Division Manager or the project manager, you will execute Alberta One Call and private locates throughout southern Alberta. Within this role, you will be involved in line locating on resource industry related facilities and pipelines, local construction sites, and for landowners around Calgary or Red Deer. There is also a significant opportunity to work on major pipeline construction projects around throughout Western Canada. This is a great opportunity for an individual that is looking to grow their career in Line Locating and Geomatics Engineering with a well-established company.

• The ability to travel and work varied hours out of town in remote areas is required.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as required.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Locating and staking oilfield facilities/infrastructure in response to Alberta One Calls
• Grid sweeping and staking oilfield facilities/infrastructure for reclamation and construction projects.
• Manage information flow from field to office and prepare clear, concise, and accurate field sketches.
• Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.

Hourly Range: $22.60 to $38.00 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
What You’ll Bring:

• At least 2 years of previous experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Extensive experience with Underground Utility Locating is required
• Experience working in remote environments
• Capable of working independently and solving problems on the job
• Physical ability to work in mountainous and forested terrain and ability to carry equipment/supplies.
• Willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours
• Line locating training and comfort locating on a variety of sites, including compressor stations and battery sites
• Valid driver’s license required
• Experience locating within urban areas is an asset (but not required)
• Good written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, good attendance, sound judgment skills, and general computer knowledge.
