The Emergency Department
St. Paul’s Emergency Department specializes in complex diagnosis, surgery, and medicine cases including, but not limited to, neurology/stroke management, gastroenterology, respiratory, renal, cardiovascular, and mental health/substance use patients.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant. Current basic cardiac life support certification.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia.
The LPN:
- assists patients/residents in meeting their physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs consistent with the mission, vision and values of Providence Health Care (PHC) and established protocols
- participates in developing care plans, conducting assessments, implementing and evaluating interventions, documenting information and acting as an advocate for patients
- participates in a variety of meetings including care conferences
- responds and reports incidents according to established procedures and performs clerical duties as needed

Contract length: 12 months
Salary: $31.89-$40.15 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 36 per week
