Role

Reporting to the Manager of Labour Relations Policy and Legislation, the senior analyst will be part of the team that maintains Alberta's labour relations legislation. They will be responsible for advanced policy and project work associated with the review and evaluation of labour relations policy and legislation to ensure it remains relevant and fair. The senior analyst will use their technical knowledge of labour relations and analytical skills to provide advice or propose policy changes to labour relations legislation.

The senior analyst will also be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to understand workplace trends and issues, or to provide information and labour relations expertise.

Assets:
  • Strong background knowledge and experience with labour relations in Alberta.
  • Two years' experience and knowledge of interpreting and applying legislation and providing recommendations on sensitive policy issues.
Skills required for the position:
  • Expert understanding of labour relations issues and stakeholders in Alberta.
  • Ability to conduct strategic analysis of labour relations trends, events and developments in a proactive fashion within the Branch, Division, Department and Government.
  • Critical thinking skills with a strong ability to interpret and apply labour relations legislation, and provide recommendations on sensitive policy issues.
  • Strong research skills, and able to understand and use research methodologies when appropriate.
  • Ability to perform integrative analysis, making sense of large amounts of often complex information under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communications skills, including: excellent listening skills, superior writing ability, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and lead or support multiple work assignments to adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to find innovative and realistic solutions to complex issues and problems in the workplace.
Qualifications

University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Salary

$2,683.10 to $3,507.06 bi-weekly. ($70,029 - $91,534/ year)
