Job description

We are looking for 1 Full-Time Machine Operator to join the NuScape Team! This position will involve assisting in the completion of landscaping projects by a variety of tasks. The position will require the use of machinery and other gardening equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Able to work with a team to responsibly and efficiently finish the landscaping project (within the projected time allotted).
• Focusses on quality and efficiency while working on a landscaping project.
• Wear appropriate protective equipment while on the job site and while using certain equipment.
• Able to be respectful and courteous to the client, as well as the surrounding neighbours.
• Maintain a standard of organization and cleanliness on job sites and work vehicles.
• Operation of machinery and other large equipment to assist with placement of large stone.

Possible Responsibilities Include:

• The maintenance of clients' gardens and yards.
• Planting of garden material, trees, shrubs, etc.
• Loading and unloading of material, tools, machinery, used for landscaping projects.
• Transportation of materials (i.e., soil, mulch, gravel) with wheelbarrows, carts, hand lifting/carrying, etc.
• Operation of various tools or equipment.

Requirements and Expectations:

Behaviour:

• Able to respectfully speak with clients and fellow workers with no profanities of any kind.

Skills:

• Alert and demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills on-site and off.
• Competent in the materials and tools utilized to complete the landscaping project and able to use them in a safe and responsible manner.
• Proficient basic math skills are an asset.
• Understanding of basic grading and layout.
• Technically skilled.

Experience and Education:

• Experience in labouring and landscape labouring is required.
• Experience with installing boulders, armourstone, and flagstone (2+ years).

Work Conditions:

• Able to lift a minimum of 50lbs and able to do so repeatedly throughout a shift.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment (under tight schedules and deadlines).
• Excellent stamina is needed to keep up with the job.
• Flexible hours with occasional weekend work.
• Working outdoors with various conditions of heat, humidity, cold, rain, etc.
• Able to work near or around loud and large machinery.
• Able to work with hand tools, power tools, and materials.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $23.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
