This opening is on our day shift. The normal hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Job Summary:
Work with the team to manufacture thermoset composite materials. Operate equipment that includes, forming, pultrusion and/or shape machines. Help to ensure machinery is set up, works properly, and conforms with company quality, quantity, and efficiency standards.
Duties also involve manual work, use of various hand tools and secondary/accessory equipment and handling of chemicals and fiberglass.
Essential Job Functions
- Form molded shapes of material, using various manufacturing equipment:
- Select and install machine components, such as dies, spacers, shims and/or stops according to specifications, using hand tools and measuring devices
- Manufacture glass polyester shapes by preparation of raw materials to specifications for glass roving and resin, per work order instructions
- Remove materials or products from forming machines and cut/package/stack or store them as per work order instructions.
- Record and maintain production data, such as tolerance readings, and quantities, types, and defects of materials produced
- Clean dies and molds, using scrapers, brushes, scotch pads or air hoses
- Move materials, supplies, components, and finished products between storage and work areas, using work aids such as carts, forklifts and hand trucks
- Maintain count and perform packaging duties as required
- Complete work order paperwork
- Perform in-process inspection according to standard procedures
- Perform routine daily machine maintenance including cleaning up and lubrication
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Qualifications and Competencies
- Production and Processing: knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Mechanical: knowledge of machines and tools including designs, uses, repair & maintenance
- Computers & Electronics: knowledge of machine controls, electronic equipment to include hardware/software and applications
- Perform work independently with minimal defects
- Able to lift up to 23 kgs as needed throughout the day
- Open to change/flexible
- Basic to Intermediate math skills with the ability to understand technical drawings and troubleshooting
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Education and Experience
- The job typically requires some manufacturing work experience, or equivalent formalized training.
- A High School Diploma or GED with prior hands on, vocational or job-related course work/training, or any similar combination of education and experience is an asset.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing industry with mixing, batching or compounding equipment is an asset.
