Machine Shop Operator

ABOUT US:

J&K Converters Ltd. is a leader in rebuilding and custom manufacturing of the highest quality performance torque converters for auto transmissions. Our converters are available for street, strip, circle track racing, tractor pulling, and all extreme towing.

We are currently seeking a Machine Shop Operator/Welder to join our nimble and tight knit team. As leaders in the business since 1995, J&K is a great place to grow your skills under the direction of our owner, head builder and production manager, Jerzy Zaborski.

This is a specialized product and your willingness and ability to learn is more valuable than your experience. Please note, our metal lathes and drill presses and welders are manual (not CNC or robotic) and familiarity using these tools is an asset.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

• Willingness to learn
• Ability to follow instructions
• Experience MIG welding
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Physical Stamina and Strength - must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift 50lbs to handle heavy equipment
• Must be able to work independently
• Must be resourceful with sound troubleshooting skills

NICE TO HAVE:

• Previous experience operating manual machines in a manufacturing setting
• Experience reading and following schematics
• Proficiency at using precision measuring instruments
• Experience with metal lathe / drill press
• Driver's License

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work duties are varied, this is custom building instead of manufacturing style production
• Perform necessary pre-operation activities to ensure proper equipment startup and operation on multiple pieces of equipment
• Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
• Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers to ensure accuracy
• Use hand tools to assemble products
• Communicate with team members and support team to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with adherence to safety
• Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area
• Perform quality inspections on finished products

Salary: From $20.00 per hour

• drill press (non CNC): 1 year (preferred)
